Browning a5 problems.

Posted: 7/6/2015 5:53:28 PM EDT. I am working on an older Browning A5 light 12, I think around 1970ish, and the trigger is not resetting. I know it has been shot quite a bit. In taking the gun apart, none of the springs are broken and upon replacing the trigger spring, it still will not reset. You probably have your friction rings set for light loads. Remove the forearm and look in the forearm to see if there is a picture of how the rings are supposed to go. When looking at the mag tube, it appears that the mag cap pushes down on the end spacer (movable end cap that the spring fits into) and this then blocks the last shell. Is there some way to fix this on my own. Install a shorter spacer, or follower,etc. Three of the 3" shells work fine as the over all length is shorter than 4 of the 2 3/4" shell.

Or maybe the gun will cycle your shells after it’s ...my hypothesis is that the bolt latch assembly is bent and causing the latch to not engage properly. if i put my hand on the inside of the receiver and apply pressure to the latch assembly, the latch will then engage and hold the bolt open. My plan was to replace the latch assembly to see if that fixes the issue.

Browning A5 cycling problems. I have an A5 that I bought used about 4 months ago that cycled fine when I got it. Now it will load and fire first shot but once second shot is loaded into chamber, I cant even pull the trigger without switching the saftey on and themn back off. So, I have to fire first shot, switch safety on, off and fire again.
