It posture-breaks most bosses in 2-3 hits, and pretty much every non-boss enemy in two or less. Black Flame Blade applies what appears to be a non-stacking ~189 (at 30 faith) damage over time (DOT) per hit. but it was kinda too powerful against some enemies too. they went from one extreme to the other. there are more fun ashes i would rather use after the nerf. It went from 40 poise damage per hit down to 10. i think iirc i read someone said it got nerfed 4times. it took 2 to break poise. now it takes 8.
