For simplicity it was decided to drop the word Association from CFRA, leaving Cumberland Fell Runners and the club was on its way. It started with around 25 members and a donation from the CFRA to help it get on its feet. But by December 1987 and the club's first AGM, the members list was up to a very healthy 75 runners.
