Idk it looks like bubba took a Chinese or otherwise rifle with a blank top cover and turned it into a 40’s dated Russian to sell for a profit. The font on the numbers looks suspicious and the Star doesnt look like it was done by a factory: You can tell where someone attempted to make a star by the individual lines rather than a machine doing ... I think it detracts from a collector-grade example because it's 1) not original and 2) pretty garish. But, this addition does not lessen the price for a shooter/refurb SKS. The four U.S. Russian Simonov importer's marks are CDI, NHM, KBI and CAI, and are more discreetly added to the receiver in that order.

However, on a Russian SKS the rifle markings would be on the top cover. It looks like the top cover is blank, or void of markings. My guess is that it is infact a russian SKS that has been recently imported as a refinished surplus rifle, much like the recent nagants, but the top cover has been replaced with a non Russian top cover. One is the standard 5-point star that we all know and love. The second marking has that same star inside a triangle (same size as the Izhmash triangle).
